Living Vividly Habit Challenge April 2020

Kindness Matters

I don’t know about the rest of you, but my life has been affected by our global crisis. People everywhere are scared, stressed, maybe ill or in financial trouble. What the world needs now is kindness. To ourselves, to each other, everywhere. This challenge offers a chance to nurture your resilience and your community through positive thoughts and small kind actions.

Habit:

Do something kind for others (directly, with a kind word, a gift, a thoughtful gesture–or indirectly, like acting to protect the vulnerable among us by engaging in social distancing)

Daily:

Be kind to yourself (Things are hard. It’s okay if you’re having a hard time. Treat yourself with gentleness, and use your mental and physical health self-care strategies. Can you take a nap? Go out in nature? Meditate? Do crafts? Read or watch something soothing? Listen to music?)

To Do:

Give yourself a break

Give someone else the benefit of the doubt

Reflection:

This challenge was a powerful exercise in generosity and self-compassion. I’ve kept the ‘Be kind to yourself’ daily on my Habitica ever since. (Image above is the chalk art that the kiddo and I did as a kindness to cheer up the neighborhood.)
