Living Vividly Habit Challenge October 2017

Old Business

Dear friends, it’s time to take stock of that weight that chains you down, that item you spend so much energy ignoring: that thing on your to do list you’ve been avoiding. There’s always something, isn’t there? That task you know you ought to do… but something is holding you back. Maybe you haven’t been ready to face a fear or some emotional turmoil surrounding a task. Maybe you just keep on procrastinating because it’s easier than figuring out your first step. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by the scope of something, and haven’t been able to break it down into manageable pieces. Well, this month it’s time to roll up your sleeves and tackle that old business! This challenge offers a chance to unchain yourself from the weight of old business, freeing up mental and emotional energy for other parts of your life.

Daily:
Work on some Old Business

To Do:
Identify your Old Business
Make a plan for how to tackle that neglected task
Finish it!

Reflection:
I tackled some tough old business in October; getting my medical records in better order and pulling the paperwork together that I needed for some Official Business. The hurdles were emotional, and physical–filling out forms and typing things up on the one hand, and burning spoons to make phone calls on the other, not to mention grappling with getting a sense of my medical history over the past fifteen years, and thinking about where I’m at now. It was rough! But the process of working on just a bit at a time, and having the community support of my Guildmates behind me… it made the difference, and I met my deadline.

The stories that others shared in the Guild were equally inspiring–sometimes it feels so good to get that lurking specter off of your to-do list and out of your life!

  1. Great post Sunray! taking stock and responsibility for our lives in whatever ways we are challenged is difficult but vital to being the best version of ourselves. Those days when we were guild members in Super Better were very healing for me. You played a big part of that! Thanks for your support then and for your wise words now! Keep up the good fight friend!
