Living Vividly Habit Challenge July 2017

Routine Maintenance

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is to take care of ourselves. Not with big things, necessarily, but with all the small, consistent routines that support our physical and emotional health. Are there self-care activities that you’ve been meaning to add to your routine but haven’t gotten to? Maybe things you’re trying to do for yourself but find get left out at the end of the day? This challenge is your chance to make yourself the priority.

This challenge helps to strengthen your physical and mental/emotional good health with the power of small steps, consistently taken.

Daily:
Do something to nurture your body
Do something to help you feel calm and balanced

To Do:
Make a list of some self-care strategies for physical and emotional health
(These can be things you already do, or something you’d like to try)
Choose one physical and one emotional self-care task to focus on this month

Reflection:
It’s really essential to make self-care part of your routine, particularly when you struggle with chronic illness. If you wait to take good care of yourself until you’re in a crisis, it’s much more difficult to pull yourself back out of that depleted state. For me, some of the underpinnings of my continued good function include daily meditation and my four-times-a-week PT exercises. A daily walk helps bolster me both physically and mentally, too.
