Embracing the Senses: Vision
So much of the world we experience with our sight, but when was the last time you really *looked* at something? Take some time this month to appreciate the beauty that surrounds you, in texture, color, light and form. This challenge offers a chance to move mindfully in the world by fully engaging with your sense of vision.
Daily:
Look at something beautiful or interesting with close attention. Imagine describing it to someone.
To Do:
Find a piece of art you like. Hang it where you’ll see it often. (maybe a new wallpaper for computer or phone?)
Draw or photograph something from life (at least once this month, but as often as you’d like).
Share a beautiful sight with someone!
Reflection:
My August was a whirl of new sights, as I went on two different vacations–one to Ocean City, NJ and the other to Salt Lake City, UT! True to form, I took a lot of pictures, shared them widely on social media, and enjoyed every minute of it. Highlights include a sunrise over the Atlantic, having an osprey fly right over my head on the beach, a lovely hike in the mountains, complete with a waterfall, wildflowers, and butterflies, and of course all the lovely sights of home and my garden. Some group members also took this opportunity to really savor their surroundings, and it was a joy to hear about it!
