Living Vividly Habit Challenge August 2016

Fire that Drives

So far we have explored three of the four elements: Earth, Air, and Water. Our fourth element is Fire. Fire is the element that enlivens, filling your heart with passion for the things you care about and giving you the energy to persevere. When all is well in the fire-oriented parts of your life, you are able to get excited about your goals and aspirations, and feel like you have the energy to carry you through obstacles and doubt.

Habit:
Get in touch with fire (bask in the sun, light a candle, toast some marshmallows, whatever inspires you!)
Do something that sparks your enthusiasm

Daily:
Track your energy (do you feel inspired, bored, enlivened, dull? This practice can help you identify what really lights you up!)

To Do:
Using the information you’ve gathered, make a list of what energizes you! You can use it the next time life seems drab.

Reflection:
The sun was my main connection to fire during this month, though cooking and grilling played a big part, too. The thing that sparks my passion most reliably is creativity, and creating things in the kitchen is one of its main expressions! When I can weave that together with my love of gardening or support of local agriculture, it takes my day to a whole new level. Deliberately sparking my enthusiasm is a great practice, and one that I look forward to revisiting. Pictured below is a peach-blueberry pie I invented with blueberries I helped pick!
