One of this month’s poems!

Hot Air Balloon

What if the weight of the world
were 1% lighter? What if there was lift?
Today the sun is going to kiss your cheeks.
The tip jar will be full by closing.
Today someone will smile at you on the street
and you’ll take one, and pass it on.
You’re going to set down yesterday’s mood
and thank your spouse for something
and see the clouds evaporate from their face.
Your teenager will come out from their room
and tell you something hilarious from the internet
and you’ll think to listen, instead of waiting
for your chance to tell them about chores.
You’ll have time for a nap, and a sweet little dream.
Today the numbers will come out right.
Today we’re going to have a little extra.
Each heart will fire a little brighter;
rising heat will lift us all.
