Curiouser and Curiouser

We’re born with it. We’ve used it to grow as a species and to mature as people. Sometimes it gets stifled when we’re busy or stressed or sunk into habits and routines. It’s our sense of curiosity! One of the most powerful questions in the world is “What if?”–some of the most amazing discoveries have started with “I wonder….” Let’s build on our own sense of curiosity, whether we’re feeding an already-burning flame, or reawakening childhood’s embers. This challenge offers a chance to stretch our minds and step out of the stories we tell ourselves about the world–to rediscover what’s really around us.

Habit:

Ask yourself (or someone else) a question

Daily:

Notice something that sparks your curiosity (someone’s words or behavior you don’t quite understand, something in nature that you’ve wondered about, someone’s burning question you also want answered, a topic you’ve thought about researching, even just wondering if there’s a better or more fun or more efficient way to do a task!)

To Do:

Question an assumption

Look something up that you’re curious about

Practice perspective taking and active listening (Have a conversation with someone where your goal is to understand their thoughts and feelings and share that understanding with them. Bring your gentle curiosity and empathy to the room!)

Reflection:

Lots of participation on this challenge, and lots of great questions asked and answered. Shaking up a routine, even if it’s as intangible as a routine assumption, is so healthy!
