Study Up!
Keeping your mind active and engaged is a key component of health, happiness, and longevity. Is there a topic you’ve been meaning to learn more about, or a skill you’ve been hoping to pick up? This is your chance to do some independent education! This challenge offers a chance to build mental resilience and connect with others around a shared interest.
Daily:
Read or watch non-fiction for at least 10 minutes
To Do:
Finish one book in a non-fiction subject of interest (or a couple of issues of a magazine, a few episodes of a podcast, an audio book, etc)
Connect with others around your subject of interest (join an online discussion group, attend a lecture or reading, watch a lecture online and participate in the comments, take a class or workshop)
Create something or share knowledge relating to your subject of interest (write a review of a book or an essay on your topic, try out a new skill, teach something you’ve learned)
Reflection:
I had a tremendously productive time studying up in one of my areas of interest: poetry! I read a book about the nuts and bolts, participated in online forums, and wrote many, many poems during this month.
It was really fun seeing the wide variety of topics people chose in the guild, too!
