The Body at Rest
As the year winds to a close, and (at least for some of us) the temperatures fall and the darkness grows, a period of rest settles upon us. So many of us, out of necessity or choice, keep so busy in daylight or darkness that we rarely take extra time to give our bodies extra rest. Let us take the opportunity (as much as we can in this busy holiday season) to give our bodies the creature comfort of a warm, cozy rest. This challenge offers a chance to reconnect with your body and build up your repertoire of self-care strategies–a counterbalance to last May’s challenge of getting active.
Habit:
Take a well-earned break (read fiction, watch TV, whatever it is you do to relax!)
Take a deep breath and relax your muscles
Daily:
Curl up in a cozy spot and do nothing for 10 minutes
To Do:
Create a cozy spot in your home
Snuggle (with a person, pet, or stuffed toy)
Go to bed an hour early
Reflection:
This was a repeat of one of my favorite challenges, and I was glad to do it.
