The Body in Motion
Human bodies just love to keep moving, but sometimes we absent-mindedly live a life in chairs, in cars, on screens, and lost in thought. This month let’s appreciate our capability for motion and delight in connecting to our physical form, no matter our level of skill or ability!
This challenge offers a chance to build physical resilience and work on your emotional connection with your body and with movement. Dedicated to living the most beautiful and positive life you can? Join us in the Living Vividly guild for a chance to connect and contribute!
Habit:
A little extra movement (a flight of stairs, 5min of walking, whatever fits your skill, ability, and activity level)
Daily:
Pay attention to your body in motion. Feel those muscles working!
To Do:
– Change or add something to your physical activities. Your body loves variety.
– Do something physical you really love. Dance, swim, jump on your bed… whatever brings you joy!
– Reflect on your relationship with movement. (Think about how you view “exercise”: as drudgery? Punishment? Virtue? What meanings, emotions, and values have you learned to attach to it? Are they serving you well, or do you want to work on changing your internal scripts around what it means to get moving?)
Reflection:
As has been the case with me for a couple of years now, my desire for movement is hampered by my health. But I still enjoyed the chance to refocus on joy in movement, rather than frustration with its limitation. People in the guild definitely got a lot out of the reflection to-do questions. Overall a solid and successful challenge!
