The Written Word
Whether or not you self-identify as a writer, paying attention to the beauty and versatility of the written word and learning to express yourself through writing can expand your mind and improve your powers of communication and connection. This month we will join together in solidarity as we explore our verbal creativity! Whether you’re drawn to writing fiction, poetry, essays, blog posts, love letters, or journal entries, this challenge is the place to scratch that itch. Our goal is to write something every week this month, either a short finished piece or part of a longer work. This challenge offers a chance to build mental resilience and connect with others!
Habit:
Write
To Do:
Complete a piece of writing, week 1
Complete a piece of writing, week 2
Complete a piece of writing, week 3
Complete a piece of writing, week 4
Share in the Guild a link to one of your written pieces, and/or your thoughts on your writing process.
Reflection:
I’m a writer, and I thought that this challenge would be a nice companion to the reading challenge from October, as well as providing a little solidarity if any of our Guild members were participating in NaNoWriMo this year. For my writing assignments, I generally chose poetry, but we had a variety of people from the guild writing a variety of things: fiction, non-fiction, even a good old fashioned hand written letter. Naturally, some of the poems I wrote in November have already been posted here.
