Water and Caring
So far we have explored two of the four elements: Earth and Air. Our third element is Water. Water is the element of the emotions: connecting with those around you through empathy and caring. When all is well in the water-oriented parts of your life, you are in touch with your feelings, able to identify and express how you’re feeling, and you feel close to the people who are important to you.
Habit:
Get in touch with water (bath, shower, swimming, water balloon fight, whatever inspires you!)
Do something soothing (care for yourself as you would a beloved friend)
Daily:
Drink plenty of water (or other unsweetened beverages)
To Do:
Show someone you care
Reflection:
Running this challenge in summer made it particularly fun! Drinking lots of water (or in my case, unsweetened herbal iced teas) is my summertime jam, and part of this month I spent on vacation at the Jersey Shore, soaking up ocean vibes. Exploring closer to home, I spent some time dipping my toes in the Mill River (pictured below) and played in Chapel Brook Falls. I really enjoyed thinking about self-care and care for others as two points on a continuum. And heaven knows I need extra care in the summers! It felt particularly significant to savor my connection to water during the drought that parched our valley all summer.
