As the year winds to a close, and (at least for some of us) the temperatures fall and the darkness grows, a period of rest settles upon us. So many of us, out of necessity or choice, keep so busy in daylight or darkness that we rarely take extra time to give our bodies extra rest. Let us take the opportunity (as much as we can in this busy holiday season) to give our bodies the creature comfort of a warm, cozy rest.
This challenge offers a chance to reconnect with your body and build up your repertoire of self-care strategies–a counterbalance to last Juneβs challenge of getting active.
Habit:
Take a well-earned break
Take a 15 min nap!
Daily:
Curl up in a cozy spot and do nothing
Take a deep breath and relax your muscles
To Do:
Create a cozy spot in your home
Snuggle (with a person, pet, or stuffed toy)
Go to bed an hour early
Reflection:
Some aspects of December’s challenge were as easy and enjoyable as I would have imagined. Others were unexpectedly really hard! It turns out that I am not very good at doing nothing. π Meditation? Sure! But planting my butt in a chair and deliberately doing nothing? Oh, it was like wrestling a bear.
