A Strong Social Web
Whatever life brings, we’re stronger in a group than standing alone. Time spent strengthening connections with family, friends, and neighbors is time well spent. It takes energy to make new friends, to cultivate relationships with old friends, to interact genuinely and connect with anyone we encounter. The extra effort to spark some connections will be worth it.
Habit:
Get together face-to-face (with someone you don’t usually see daily)
Be friendly to a cashier or service worker
Daily:
Webweaver (Write, email, text or call someone)
To Do:
Take time to talk to a neighbor
Go for a walk with no electronic distractions
Write a letter with pen and paper and surprise someone with mail
Reflection:
I had a great time with August’s challenge. I know that I have a strong social web–not the largest, but full of life and integrity. It was great to have the reminder to take good care of it, to tend the garden of social relationships. I hope that I was able to inspire some folks on Habit to make new connections. (I took the opportunity to meet the new neighbors across the street!)
